Tools to Fight Anime Piracy PDF Print E-mail

This page is dedicated to the removal of shops that sell pirated DVDs and CDs. Why are we so interested? Because their pirated DVDs could drive us out of business, pure and simple. If dealers in pirated goods were legitimate dealers in legitimate anime goods, then it would simply be that the best store won. But this is not what is going on and there is no way we can compete with low-priced pirated DVDs. Because no matter how low we set our prices, a vendor of pirated goods can go lower.

Please use this as a resource for shutting down these retailers. We feel that pirated anime is an affront to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved with the production and distribution of anime, from the producers and animators themselves, to the licensees in other countries, and to the fans themselves. It is no better than selling stolen goods.

One of the frequent defenses for pirated goods is that they are legal in their country of origin. Nothing could be further from the truth. Here is a company that makes legitimate, licensed anime available in Southeast Asia

Odex Ptd Ltd. (requires Flash)

Also, here are links to Nausicaa.net, which has pictures and information on the legitimate Chinese versions of Studio Ghibli's movies:
